Housing Preservation Program
The Housing Preservation Program provides home rehabilitation in four counties: Hot Springs, Washakie, Big Horn, and Park. The work is done to correct health and safety issues and most often involves such things as a new furnace, a roof, a sewer line, or a hot water heater, although other rehabilitation work may also qualify.

To be eligible an applicant must meet the very low-income guidelines, have owned the home for more than one year, and the repairs must meet the health and safety guidelines. The home must be on a permanent foundation. Additionally, the number of persons living in the home, the health of the homeowner, and the general condition of the home are taken into account in determining eligibility.

The program begins in the fall and runs until the funds are spent, usually by the following spring. The program is funded by USDA’s Rural Development.
